On behalf of the organizing committee we are pleased to announce the 6th International Conference on Mass Customization and Personalization in Central Europe (MCP - CE 2014) when we proudly celebrate the 10th anniversary of our activities.

Organized for the sixth time, the biannual MCP-CE conference emphasizes the role and importance of Customer Co-Creation that offers customers a chance to express their differences, and also an opportunity for innovations and new business models such as Mass Customization and Open Innovation platforms, for sharing designs and developments and benefits from the experiences of others.

Lars Hvam is Professor in Operations Management at the Technical University of Denmark. He has been working on product configuration and complexity management for more than 15 years as a teacher, a researcher and as consultant for more than 20 configuration projects and projects on complexity reduction in large industrial companies. He has supervised more than 10 Ph.D. projects on the construction and application of configuration systems and on complexity management, and has been the project leader of five major research projects on product configuration and complexity analysis. 
Lars Hvam is also head of the center for product modeling, and the founder and current chairman of the Product Modeling Association, www.productmodels.org, whose aim is to disseminate knowledge of the possibilities offered by product configuration and complexity management through seminars, courses and other activities.

Michael Bartl holds Ph.D. from the Otto Beisheim Graduate School (WHU) in Vallendar on the topic of co-creation, open innovation and new media. For four years he worked for Audi in the R&D department. With the Virtual Lab initiated in 2001 he set up the first Open Innovation programme at Audi allowing thousands of customers to be part of the development of the new generation automotive infotainment system. Since 2004 he runs his own business as CEO together with two partners Michael Schmidt and Dr. Johann Füller. Today HYVE (www.hyve.de ) is a leading innovation agency realizing co-creation solutions in order to design successful innovation. HYVE merges competencies of industrial design, innovation research and community software development in order to create a unique set of knowhow and tools to face the innovation challenge of the future and create successful products and services for their clients. HYVE deals with Open Innovation, Netnography, Ideamanagement, User Design, Co-Creation and future developments in innovation research and management.

Dr. Nizar Abdelkafi is head of unit Business Models and Services at Fraunhofer MOEZ and senior researcher at the department of innovation management and innovation economics at the university of Leipzig. After his Industrial Engineering studies, Nizar Abdelkafi did his business management-oriented postgraduate studies at the Technische Universität München (TUM) in 2002. From 2002 to 2004 he worked as a project researcher at the University Klagenfurt in Austria, where he was involved in a project on mass customization. In 2005 he moved to Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), where he got his PhD degree in 2008. In his postdoctoral position at the TUHH, Dr. Nizar Abdelkafi dealt with various topics related to business economics such as supply chain design and innovation and open source innovation. He has published his research in two books, nine international journals and over 30 conference papers and book chapters. His research interests focus on innovative business models, along with innovation and service management.
